Third Consideration: Ordinance for Case No. ORD16-02 being the petition of the City of Davenport for a Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment to Chapter 17.23, entitled “Historic Preservation” by amending eligibility and composition requirements. [All Wards]

Recommendation:

The Historic Preservation Commission unanimously recommended approval of ORD16-02 at its October 11, 2016 public meeting. 

 

The Commission vote was 6-yes and 0-no with 0-abstention.

 

The Plan and Zoning Commission considered case No. ORD16-02 at its October 18, 2016 meeting and voted to forward Case No. ORD16-02 to the City Council with a recommendation for approval without any special conditions.

 

The Commission vote was 10-yes and 0-no with 0-abstention.

Background:

There are currently two vacancies on the Historic Preservation Commission.  It has become increasingly difficult to find citizens with knowledge in the field of historic preservation and willing to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission.  The proposed Ordinance would reduce the number of Commission members from nine to seven, amend the position requirements and allow members who own a historic property in the City to serve on the Commission.
