Background:
The current carpet in these areas is very worn and the seams are duck-taped to avoid tripping hazards. The pattern is to be duplicated with a custom stamping color process. This is not as expensive as having the carpet custom woven with the old pattern.
On April 18, 2016, the Purchasing Division issued an Invitation to Bid to 45 vendors. On May 13, 2016, four bids were opened. Paragon Interiors was the lowest, responsive and responsible bid per square foot. See bid tab attached.
This contract amount includes extra square footage needed to lay the carpet on the curved staircase with the seams lining up with each riser. That way the seams do not show and do not become a trip hazard.
Funding is from the CIP #69003 for Adler Carpet, with a balance of $45,760 and the remaining $9,284 is from CIP #69006 for Adler Construction, with a balance of $55,101. These funds are from Hotel/Motel Tax.
